Imagine a bacteria that resides in half the people in this room right now, and it is a bacteria that could lead to stomach cancer, ulcers, and neurodegeneration: Helicobacter Pylori.
My Story
Growing up across three countries was challenging as someone who has spent his life living across three continents, in three countries. From California to Switzerland to the UAE, the various chapters of life were each distinct in their individual ways. Although moving countries brought difficulty at a young age, it eventually became a blessing later on in life to be able to see the many corners of our world.
Noah Gama is an exceptional student who has achieved straight A’s in high level honors classes for the past three years. In addition to this Noah has played the trombone for seven years and serves as the first chair trombonist since freshman year in his high school’s honors wind ensemble in addition to being low brass captain of that ensemble. Not only is Noah involved with music at his school, but he also shares his passion for science with others. Noah is the captain and president of his school’s science club that will go on to compete in the Science Olympiad, the International Research Olympiad, and the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair. Noah’s interest in medicine is sparked by his ambition to help others and he has participated in medical summer programs at both Harvard and Stanford. Noah also feels that he needs to give back to his community which is why Noah spends two hours a week teaching a faith formation class to second graders at the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. In addition to that, Noah is a student ambassador for Smart Kids Ghana, a non profit partnered with Harvard Medical School that is aimed at supplying children in Ghana with laptops to allow them to pursue an education. Noah joined Smart Kids Ghana by meeting the founder at a program at Harvard Medical School and grew the connection from there.
Since as early as he could remember, Noah has always dreamed of becoming an astronaut. Later on in life when Noah found his love for medicine and specifically neurosurgery, he decided to mix the two passions and now has ambitions of one day traveling to space to study how neurological diseases caused by neurodegeneration are affected by the effects of space flight. Right now, Noah is a high school sophomore attending a Catholic high school in Southern California and aims to attend an Ivy League university to lead him to his dream of attending Harvard Medical School.
