Dong KEON
LAM

Born in South Korea and currently based in Singapore, Dong Keon (DK) Lam is a high school student at Singapore American School with a passion for music, medicine, and solving global challenges. A dedicated violinist for over a decade, DK channels his passion for both music and medicine into community service and academic inquiry.

My Story

With dual passions for music and science, DK is a committed learner and discoverer who enjoys sharing his knowledge to inform and help communities in need. He believes in the importance of scientific research for enhancing healthcare, while also recognizing the healing power of music, serenading underserved communities. He performs weekly at elderly homes and conducts research on music therapy’s effects on patients with Alzheimer's disease.

 

DK is the founder of Ecogen, a nonprofit organization that educates children in science and sustainability through interactive, experiment-based lessons. DK also serves as Singapore’s chapter leader for HelpMynd, a global mental health organization that raises awareness and provides wellness resources in over 160 cities. DK also recently interned at The Vein Institute in which he presented award-winning research findings on venous disorders. 

 

With a strong interest in biomedical sciences, DK aspires to become a doctor, focusing on creating meaningful change for patients and contributing to advancements in healthcare. Outside of academics, DK immerses himself in politics, enjoying reading political and societal books and engaging in meaningful discourse. DK strives to create impactful solutions that ameliorate healthcare disparities and is determined to leave a lasting mark on the world.
